All the entries below are な-adjectives. These take -な as a suffix when they are used to modify nouns, and they are inflected quite differently from い-adjectives. Their inflection more closely resembles that of a noun, so な-adjectives are often referred to as adjectival nouns.

In Japanese, な-adjectives are known interchangeably as な-形(けい)容(よう)詞(し) (na-keiyōshi, “な-adjectives”) and 形(けい)容(よう)動(どう)詞(し) (keiyō dōshi, “adjectival verbs”).
