Usage
[แก้ไข]This template may be used in "References" and "Further reading" sections, and on talk pages, to cite the Canadian Oxford Dictionary (1st edition, 1998; 2001 version; and 2nd edition, 2004). It can be used to create a link to online versions of the work at the Internet Archive:
- 1st edition (1998).
- 2001 version – reissued with a supplement.
- 2nd edition (2004).
Parameters
[แก้ไข]The template takes the following optional parameters:
|edition=or|year=– mandatory in some cases: if quoting from the 2001 version specify|year=2001, and if quoting from the 2nd edition (2004) specify|edition=2nd. If these parameters are omitted, the template defaults to the 1st edition (1998).|1=,|chapter=, or|entry=–- If quoting from the main part of the work, use
|1=or|entry=to specify the entry in the work to be cited. If this parameter is omitted, the template uses the name of the Wiktionary entry. Wikitext markup may be used in the parameter, like this:|entry=fount{{sup|1}}. - If quoting from some other part of the work such as "Canadian English: 250 Years in the Making", use
|1=or|chapter=to specify the name of the chapter cited.
- If quoting from the main part of the work, use
|2=,|pos=, or|part of speech=– the part of speech of the entry. By default, the template italicizes the value assigned to the parameter and adds a full stop (period) to the end. To turn off the default formatting for the purpose of specifying a different formatting using wikitext markup and templates, specify|noformat=1or|noformat=yes.|3=,|page=or|pages=– the page number(s) of the work cited in Arabic or lowercase Roman numerals, as the case may be. When quoting a range of pages, note the following:- Separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this:
|pages=10–11or|pages=x–xi. - You must also use
|pageref=to indicate the page to be linked to (usually the page on which the Wiktionary entry appears).
- Separate the first and last pages of the range with an en dash, like this:
- This parameter must be specified to have the template link to an online version of the work.
|column=or|columns=– the column number(s) quoted from, either|column=1or|column=2. If quoting from both columns, either omit this parameter or separate the column numbers with an en dash, like this:|columns=1–2.|4=,|text=, or|passage=– the passage to be quoted.|nodot=– by default, the template adds a full stop (period) at the end of the citation. To suppress this punctuation, use|nodot=1or|nodot=yes.
