Now we come to the local bank. The marble floors and counter fronts with the rich wood teller stations seemed opulent to us. In my childhood, a man could get a loan from the local banker with a handshake and one signature. I trapped pocket gophers and I'd bring the legs into the bank to get my bounty from the state.
The records were kept on paper, every transaction was handwritten in a ledger book.
